“Construction Underway on Menasha Packaging Lakeville, Minn. Facility Expansion
August 27, 2014
Construction is underway on a 126,000-square-foot plus manufacturing and office space expansion at Menasha Packaging’s Lakeville, Minnesota facility. The expansion will increase the facility by 50 percent and create Menasha Packaging’s first location with design, production and fulfillment all under one roof.
The expansion consists of an additional 121,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 4,780 square feet of office space. The manufacturing area addition will be used for kitting and fulfillment and will include a rail dock. Upon completion, material flow will be simpler and require much less handling. The office space addition will house a new design center and customer collaboration area.
‘The manufacturing and office space expansion to Menasha Packaging’s Lakeville plant will help the facility deliver faster service and better quality for our customers,’ said Greg Theis, west region vice president of Menasha Packaging. ‘The Lakeville expansion also positions Menasha Packaging for continued growth, while providing the Lakeville team long-term flexibility to respond to customers’ changing needs in packaging and merchandising solutions.’
On Wednesday, August 27, representatives from Menasha Packaging, along with officials from the city of Lakeville and state of Minnesota, formally broke ground on the expansion. Those in attendance included Theis; Jim Kotek, president and CEO of Menasha Corporation; Mike Waite, president of Menasha Packaging; Matt Little, mayor of Lakeville; and Katie Clark Sieben, commissioner at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
The Lakeville facility manufactures corrugate boxes, as well as designs and produces displays for consumer packaged goods companies. It is located in the Airlake Industrial Park, which is close to the airport, rail lines, Interstate 35 and local Highway 70.”
